The Sonic Wasteland is a vast expanse of lasers and sound systems where a perpetual deep bass tumbles through every fibre of your body and the round shapes of the wonky dub beat make your limbs move without your permission. This is a world where the young are in charge and the old must surrender. Out in the dark Sonic Wasteland, more is always better and you can never go too far. This world is one of creative expression and individual freedom where music connects all and fashion is a way to be heard. SONIC WASTELAND is a youthful collection, predominantly inspired by contemporary underground music. Music and culture are the main inspiration for my work and I have experimented with representing musical sounds from dance music into visual ideas for design. The round shapes within the knit is inspired by the dub-step bass line, clashing with the hard geometrics prints of a more electro origin. The collection fuses both sports/street wear styles, moving into a more post-apocalyptic vision of the future. Within this collection I have made use of a range of facilities such as vacuum forming the hats in sculpture, using devore, screen printing and using the CAD machine to create fine gauge jacquard designs. This collection has a sense of uniform to it, through the use of accessories and styling- provoking atmosphere and allowing a story to be told.
